Trekkers Information Management System (TIMS Card) is mandatory for all the trekker for any trek in Nepal and single use only. TIMS card ensures the safety and security of Trekkers. TIMS card is not necessary to trek in restricted trekking area and Everest region trek.TIMS card can obtain from Nepal Tourism Board Kathmandu and Pokhara in US$ 20 for independent trekker and for the package-trek travel agency arrange it. You need to bring a copy of your passport and 2 passport size photographs and fill in a TIMS application form.

Special Trekking/Immigration Permit

Special trekking permits required for the controlled area of Nepal, these areas are spread across Nepal with different names most of them touch the border of Tibet (autonomous country of china) These restricted area trekking permits only allowed to issues by trekking agency from a department of immigration office at Kathmandu or Pokhara. Also licensed guide is mandatory for this area and also a solo trekker's not allowed to proceed for trekking permits, need minimum 2 persons. To obtain immigration permits agency requires the original passport of a trekker, valid visa copy with 1 passport size photograph then will get permits in few hours in any of working days from Sunday to Friday.
