Best Seasons:

Tibet is on a high altitude plateau set at the bottom of high mountain ranges. Travellers should know the best time to do a Tibet trip.

December – January – February – March:

These four-month are the coldest temperature in the Tibet. Night temperature is extremely cold and any form of water becomes frozen. During the day there is very strong sunshine yet its cold with dry and cold wind. Temperatures stay at +1°C in a day. During the night temperature often go _ ºc but some hotels have heaters in the room to keep warm.

April:

Mid April is between winter and summer in Tibet. Winter comes to an end and summer begins. It’s ok for a trip to Tibet but its cold and dry.

November:

Warmer season ends and winter begins. Often there will be snowfall after the last week of October and most of the lakes get frozen.

May – June – July – August – September – October:

These six months are the best time to travel in any part of Tibet. The weather is warm, sunny, grassy and higher oxygen content. Some times it rains at night. These months are the busiest and gets very crowded and takes long time for visiting monuments and at the checkpoint.

Day 01 Arrival in Lhaha (3,658 m/11,998 Ft)

Upon your arrival we pick you up from Lhasa airport or train station and 1:30 hrs drive to Lhasa city then check in hotel and take a rest.

Day 02 Lhasa Sightseeing

Today is first day of Tibet Lhasa tour, we have full day sightseeing around the Lhasa and visiting following places.

Potala Palaces: One of the greatest charismatic palace in the world, it was found by Prince Songtsan Gampo many years back. Then fifth Dalai Lama constructed the new face of Palace called modern Potala Palace in 1645. The most beautiful human made wonder has two parts called white chapel and red chapel. Potala palace was winter palace of Dalai Lama from fifth Dalai Lama to present Dalai Lama until his exile from Tibet in 1959. Some parts of the palace was damaged and destroyed during Tibetan uprising and culture revolution. Since1994 most beautiful palace is under UNESCO World Heritage List

Norbulinka Palace: A tressure garden or park know as summer residents of his holiness Dalai Lama, it was build in 1755 by seventh Dalai Lama. The palace is 3 km west from Potala palace, it covers an area of 36 hectares and it has 374 rooms. In 1950 while Tibet uprising the monument was smashed then early 2000 it inscribed in the UNESCO world heritage sites at the same period Chinese government invest huge amount to renovation and extern the palaces. Once a year Sho Dun Festival celebrates at palace, the festival date set according to Tibet calendar, which is lunar-based calendar. The festival is celebrating during the seventh month (July/August) in the first seven day of the full moon period. During Shoton festival the do Tibetan opera performance, yak race and monks dancing.

Jokhang Tepmle: A spiritual temple located at heart of Tibetan culture city. Songtsen Gampo built it in 652; the temple is culture blend of Tibet, Nepal and India because various artists used to build it. Songtsen Gampo got marriage with Chinese and Nepalese princes, that culture exchange in Tibet, china, Nepal.

Barkhor Street: Jokhang temple and Barkhor street same lane and it is gathering complex for local. Hundreds of Buddhist devotees passing streets with chanting 108 Tibet beats on the hand. The local are doing business along the roads, where you can encounter Tibetan entrepreneur with their local goods and souvenir.

Day 03 Lhasa Sightseeing

Drepung Monastery: One of the largest Gelugpa traditional monastery in Tibet with housed of 10,000 monks and located at Gambo Utse mountains. Monk Gendun Gytso had constructed Drepung Monastery in 1518, since it established it became higher academic study for Tibetan people and monks. In 1930 Drepung monastery was divided into four colleges, each different locality monks like Khampas, Mongolians, but the head of the monastery is Dalai Lama looked after collage.

Shera Monastery: A wild Roses Monastery lying at hub of Tibetan cultural city Lhasa. Jamchen Ghojey found Shakya order Shera monastery in 1419; it is also schooling for young monks. The monastery practicing and teaching debates culture to every young monks. 6 days a week except Sunday they do debates after 3 pm and it is interesting to watch. Due to the Tibetan uprising in late 1950, the monastery was damaged and destroyed. When the 14th Dalai Lama went into exile from Tibet, most of monks from Shera Monastery went with him. They now live in different parts of India. The international founder and the Indian Ggovernment help them to build branch of Shera monastery in India.

Day 04 Side trip to Namtso Lake (4,718 m/13,120 Ft)

A scenic drive to the second largest lake of Tibet called Namtso Lake known as heavenly lake in the Himalayan desert. The lake is surrounded by Himalayan ranges and decorated with holy praying flags. It is 68 miles far from Lhasa and it takes few hours to reach. The journey is a scenic drive with breathtaking mountains view and barren landscapes. The lake is very large with surface of 740 sq mil and 125 m depth.

Day 05 Departure

After your breakfast, departure from hotel and drive to train station or airport to onward journey. If you coming back to Kathmandu, we will pick you from international airport then we can talk for further adventure in Nepal.

From Lhasa you can take a train to go in china or take flight to Chengdu then fly to next destinations.
