Everest two passes trek also called 2 peak and 2 passes Everest trek which is combine passes trek of Renjo La and Cho La Pass with avoiding crowded route of Everest base camp. Renjo La to Everest base camp trek is quite popular for the ambitious trekker’s who are intent to do some physical challenging trek without any technical assist over the passes.

Everest two passes trek is combined challenging trek over 5,000 m passes with normal trekking stuffs namely Renjo La (5,380 m) and Cho La Pass (5,420 m). The high altitude exploration journey begins from Lukla or lower section of Solu Khumbu, then pass commercial hub of Namche and following days trek over stimulating 2-passes Renjo La and Cho La. Day 01: Arrival at Kathmandu (1,350 m/4,420 Ft)

Upon your arrival your trekking guide will come to receive you at Tribhuwan international airport. Your guide will be waiting you next to arrival gate with your name on play card.Then you will transfer to hotel at hub of Kathmandu by private transport with short brief about Kathmandu.

Day 02: Half Day Kathmandu valley sightseeing

You will departure from hotel after breakfast, first we drive to Phasupatinath temple, one of the largest Hindu temple in Nepal and it more popular with western traveler cremate of death. A pashupatinath complex has very beautiful architectures on temple from back date 15 century. You will often see devotees are taking bath on holy Bagmati River across the main temple. After Pashupatinath temple, we will have short drive to Bouddhanath temple, a largest Buddhist stupa in the world with it mostly Buddhist culture. We will stop at any of beautiful restaurant where we can get great view of massive stupa from top to bottom with Buddhist disciples circling the stupa with praying wheel and Tibet beads on hand in additional prostrating as well. Now drive back to hotel and short-out the trekking bag-pack.

Day 03: Fly from Kathmandu to Lukla then trek descend to Phakding (2,670 m/8,757 Ft & 4hrs trek)

The 35 minute donair flight will take us at Tenzing-Hillary airport at Lukla, at height of 2,860 m. As soon as walk out from small aircraft temperature suddenly change to colder in breezing wind. After collecting luggage, we walk to hotel and have a delicious first mountain breakfast, as we having hot meal porter will tied the bags.Then journey begins through village with crossing welcome gate of Sagarmatha national park. Trekking route descend pass the Sherpa village and massive lush and green vales with multiple rivulets from the snow melting from high peaks. The landscapes unraveling on the trail are fantastic with Buddhist prayer flags and stones stacked along the way to Phakding.

Day 04: Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3,450 m/11,316 Ft & 6-7hrs trek)

We rapidly climbing up from Phakding to Namche and all throughout day crossing high suspension bridges. The trail from Phakding will pass the heavy traffic of porter, tourist go and for, Dzo. We will pass beautiful Sherpa villages with traditional hut at Manju, Jorsalle, Chhungma. The walk will be enjoyable while pass the waterfall, siren forest of rhododendron and pine with encountering Himalayan monal.After checking the Everest national park permits at Monju, we descend and cross the suspension bridge to Jorsalle, last village before reaching Namche. Before ahead on to Namche, we make lunch break at here. The trail onward after lunch along sideway of Dudh Kodhi River on the Canyon with crossing the suspension bridge. Now trail straight on steep strenuous up in the forest with looking first view of Mt. Everest from Durbin Danda. Namche, the commercial village in upper section of Solu Khumbu where we can see traditional hut to modern concrete building in Sherpa culture taste. The heavy populate village laying on sloppy hill with surrounded by towering Kwange peak in south, Mount Khumbila in west and Thamserku in North. Every weekend people from lower section come to sell provision at Namche Bazaar, it called “Hat bazaar”. The people from upper section Tengboche, Gokyo, Gorakshep, Thame come to buy fresh and hygienic kitchen stuffs on weekend at Namche. The village has world branded coffee shop with serving oven baked cheese bread, even there is world branded trekking gear shops north face, Sherpa etc, you can buy or hire trekking gear as you needed sleeping bag, down jacket, trekking pole for your onward journey over Renjo La Pass, Cho La pass and further up to Everest base camp. An evening can go in the bar and drink Everest beer with listening favorite western music.

Day 05: Acclimatization Day

As it is acclimatization day, we make our day easy and leisure but still ascend up above the Namche. After breakfast with day-pack and sufficient water, a trek ascend up throughout old alley then follow EBC trail till big painted stone. From right here follow stone stair climb-up with providing open wider view of canyon and soaring peak. As we climb-up higher to Shyangboche and Hotel Everest view, the impressive Mountain View appear around us with red-brown tengboche monastery at bottom of Mount Ama Dablam. The grassy meadow is inhabitants of Himalayan Munal and musk deer with it yak grazing as well. We sat down at north corner of Hotel Everest view and drink hot with admiring breathtaking view of Khumbu Himalayan range including Mt. Everest, Lhtose, Ama Dablam etc. After spending some time here, we walk back to Namche bazaar then buy some energy bar for Renjo La pass and Cho La Pass.

Day 06: Trek from Namche to Thame (3,840 m/12,595 Ft & 5-6hrs trek)

As we begins our day, we follow west trail which lead to Thamel village then trail go further up to Tashi Lapcha and Ngapa La Pass. Today trail is slightly through traditional hut of highlander people, Sherpa. The trail often pass rhododendron forest, village and tensing-Hillary nursery and picturesque view of Mende monastery at midst of grassy hill. We walk on vale of Kwande peak on east of river and Mt. Khumbila on north of the river to Thamo. Upon crossing Thame River trail ascend on pebble trail to Thame, the village of Apa Sherpa, 21 time Everest Summiter's. After a while take a rest and drink of cup of tea, we probably walk to Thame monastery which laying on lap of big boulder rock, we will see stunning sunrise on Mt. Thamserku, Kusumkangaru and numbers of other peaks. Before get dark trek back to guesthouse.

Day 07: Trek from Thame to Lungden (4,640 m/15,219 Ft & 5hrs trek)

As usual trek departure after breakfast at guesthouse, short climb-up trail bring us at the ridge of Thame. Then the Renjo La Pass gentle trail lead on bank of Bhote Koshi River in the yak grazing pasture with pass some tea hut. Once we cross the River, path climb-up on east bank of river again in the panoramic meadow with looking Mountain View. Five lodges are available at Lungden with comfortable warm bed.

Day 08: Trek from Lungden to Gokyo Lake via Renjo La Pass (4,730 m/15,514 Ft & 8hrs trek

Today is our first pass since we begins trek, we will ascend 700 m from Lungden to Renjo La and descend 600 mtr from summit of Renjo La to Gokyo Lake. We leave an early morning from guesthouse with light pack lunch and drinking water. There is no guesthouse and tea shop in between Lungden, Renjo La pass and Gokyo Lake. Most part of path from Lungden to Renjo La pass is strenuous climbing with impressive view of Rolwaling Himalayan range and ample valley. After ascend up, we pass beautiful frozen lakes before reaching to Renjo La. Strenuous stone stair trail begins from Lake all the way to Renjo La. The stunning grand panorama view unfolds: Rolwaling, Tibetan Himalayas and Renjo Tso Lake on east west of Renjo peak, Cho Oyu, Gyachung Kang, Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Baruntse, Ama Dablam, Cholatse are from north to east from summit of Renjo with massive Gokyo valley. We descend enjoyably through meadows with strenuous down on pebble track to Gokyo Lake.

Day 09: Ascend to Gokyo Ri and Explore Gokyo valley (5,364 m/17,593 Ft & 6hrs trek)

As we have succeed of our first pass, we will starts our day with late breakfast, we begins walk from 3rd Gokyo lake then walk on moraine of Ngazumpa glacier on Gokyo valley, you will visit 4th Gokyo lake and 5th Gokyo lake on the glacier. As we reach at ridge of fifth lake grand view of north face of Mt. Everest will appear. From here you will see massive Cho Oyu in front and the massive blue ice glacier begins then spreading down until first Gokyo Lake. Then after a while trek back to guesthouse then take a rest after lunch.

Gokyo Ri laying right above the Gokyo lake, it looks near from guesthouse but it takes at least 2hrs with strenuous climb-up on meadow and pebble way. While trekking to Gokyo peak, the backdrop view of Gokyo Lake, longest Himalayan glacier “Ngazumpa glacier” with amazing view of towering Khumbu Himalayan range. Best time to visit Gokyo peak in evening and see sun setting down on surrounding peak, it absolutely awesome view when the orange and red ray touch crest of peak right above the cloudy flatten valley, it provides great photos. Before get dark walk down to guesthouse.

Day 10: Trek from Gokyo Lake to Thagnak (Dragnak) (4,810 m/15,776 Ft & 3-4hrs trek)

We will trek from Gokyo Lake to Dragnak with walking on Zgozumpa glacier. After lunch at Thagnak we do some acclimatization with ascending above our halt.

Day 11: Trek from Dragnak ascend to Cho La Pass (5,420 m/17,777 Ft) to Zhong La (4,840 m/15,875 Ft & 8hrs trek)

Cho La pass cooperatively tougher than Renjo La pass because walk over rocky and ice path. We heading to Khumbu valley and leaving Gokyo valley behind us, wake-up an early morning at Dragnak and early hot breakfast then departure with pack lunch, chocolate bar and sufficient drinking water. The gradual climb-up begins from Thagnak along the stream then steep-up on meadow to first ridge, marked of the huge rock. Short descend takes us to rock form, we follow path on rock to rock until arrive at lot of rubble and scree. The tough section of trek begins from here with tireless climbing up on either ice or rock straight to summit of Cho La. This section route will be icy from December to May and rocky from Jun to November unless snowfall in previous night. The pass presents impressive view of Gokyo valley and crest of Mt. Nuptse. Descend starts from here over snow and ice at bottom of boulder, the rocky path might be hazard for your knees should extra be careful walking on entire rocky part to grassy meadow. We will spend overnight at Zhongla right bottom of Cholatse peak and get amazing view of Ama dablam and numbers of other peaks.

Day 12: Trek from Zhong La to Lobuche (4,910 m/16,104 Ft & 3-4hrs trek)

A short trekking day with easy flatten trail and ascending 200 mtrs above the Zhongla. The eye-catching Mountain View will be seen entire day from morning to evening, often see sunset on Mt. Nuptse as well. Once we come cross the main trail of Everest base camp, meeting with many tourist and the trail became crazy busy. After lunch short ascend up above the Lobuche for acclimatization.

Day 13:Trek from Lobuche to EBC (5,364 m/17,563 Ft) then back to Gorak shep (5,180 m/16,990 Ft & 8hrs Trek)

Lobuche to Gorakshep is short distance walk on busiest trail of trekker’s and Dzo, first section of trek is smooth and after that walk on the Khumbu glacier to halt with looking eye-catch view of Mt. Pumari. We make early lunch at Gorakshep then onward trek to Everest base camp with some energy bar and drinking water. We do not climb much from lodge to EBC but we will feel bit harder because of rocky path and less oxygen. Gorakshep to Everest base camp trail will be comfort and easier in spring than autumn, the Everest expeditor team repair EBC to Gorakshep path for expedition. The temperature will be cold because of windy and might be slippery melting of glaciers. Lots of tented camp at base camp in spring for Mount Everest expeditions. After admiring close-up view of blue ice and khumbu glacier trek back to Gorakshep, it takes same time back as it taken to go up. If you are good hiker ascend to Kalapatthar to see spectacular sunset on Mt. Everest.

Day 14: Ascend to Kalapatthar then trek descend to Periche (4,350 m/14,268 Ft & 6hrs trek)

We will trek from Gorakshep to Kalapatthar to see superb view of Khumu glacier and sky-high Himalayan range. It is 2hrs strenuous ascend up from guesthouse to viewpoint, lot of the chorten are along the way to Kalapatthar with blowing Tibetan flags. Last section of the trail is completely huge black rocky to summit of Kalapatthar. Trekker’s willing to see sunrise on top of the Mount Everest but the sun rises behind the mount. Once you arrive at Kalapatthar peak, it expose superb view of Himalayan range including south col with classical Everest expedition route, Mt Everest, Nuptse, Ama dablam and sounding peaks. I have experienced cold and wind of Kalapatthar, we cannot stand here long after taking photos trek back to Gorakshep. After delicious breakfast trek retrace to Lobuche then pass the memorial viewpoint where we can see hundreds of the graves of Everest expeditors. We keep walking descend pass the Thukla and finally reach at Pheriche.

Day 15: Trek from Pheriche to Namche (3,450 m/11,316 Ft & 6hrs trek)

The trek route is as busy as yesterday, we trek down pass Pangboche village and finally arrive Tengboche monastery, a largest in Sherpa territory with full of the oaths. We retrace trek after lunch at Tengboche with descending to Ppungi Tanga then ascend to Namche.

Day 16: Trek from Namche to Lukla (2,860 m/9,380 Ft & 6-7 hrs trek)

The trail descend steeply down from Namche to Hillary suspension bridge then still down walk pass beautiful Sherpa villages Jorsalle, Monju,Phakding, Ghat, Tadokoshi. After cross the stream at Tadokoshi climbing up through Chhiplung, Chauri kharka and finally arrive at Lukla.

Day 17: 35 minute fly from Lukla to Kathmandu

Lukla to Kathmandu flight mostly shedule in the morning in term of good weather. First have a breakfast then walk to Tenzing-Hillary airport at Lukla and then fly to Kathmandu. Upon arrival domestic terminal of Kathmandu airport then transfer to hotel. Check in hotel then take your own time for shopping.

Yes, you need to be fit to do Everest Renjo la and Cho la pass trek, the trail leading over beautiful two passes which believed to be tough pass in Khumbu region. The best way to train yourself for trek is to strap a pack on your back and go hiking as long as you can with your trekking boot. By doing so your feet and joints will become comfortable to the continuous walking you will face on the trek. Also be sure to hit the gym and run at lest a month.
Yes you could do Everest two Passes and two peak Trek even scared of Heights. Yes Everest trek is a tough trek in Everest region because trek over the 5,420 m summit. The height is not problem of the trek since you are fit for trek. We will not reaching three passes in 1 or 2 days or not starting trek from right at 3000M or 5,000 M. We need a minimum 8days to reach at the first pass then we do pass again and again. By the time you reaching at first pass will admire of the local atmosphere or used to be with environment. Then after taking rest after pass and you will be fine to continuous other passes.
